In RENATA we are celebrating. The country’s national research and education network completed 10 years of service to science and education in Colombia. In 2017, we want to thank our members of the Government, the regional academic networks, the academic community of the affiliated institutions and all the strategic allies of the network for allowing us to achieve all our achievements.

Here are some of the results obtained by RENATA in 2017:
– As strategic allies of the Government -MinTIC, Mineducación, Colciencias, SENA, District Health Department and General Comptroller of the Republic- we advance projects of ICT and Agro, Forests of Peace, R + D + i, IT Talent, Mipyme, e- commerce, IPv6, software centers, computer thinking in the country’s schools, connectivity for public institutions, virtual education through MOOC and IPv6 graduates, and internet security of things.
– Today the network has nodes in the 35 main cities of the country and 53 rebases 3
– We disseminate more than 180 opportunities for the articulation of the academic and scientific community of the country with each other and with the world.
– We train more than 3,000 ICT leaders from more than 40 affiliated institutions in RENATA collaboration tools, RPKI resources, BGP Security and Cisco courses in cybersecurity, entrepreneurship, Get Connected and the Internet of Things (IoT).
– RENATA broadcast more than 145 events through RENATA Live and 140 events through Facebook Live.
– We developed the BGP security project in the infrastructure of RENATA, the only one of its kind in the world.
– More than 8,000 members of our academic community met through VC Espresso.
– RENATA had a reach of more than 1,160,000 members of the academic community of the country through its Facebook account (@RENATAColombia), exceeded 100,000 views on our YouTube channel (RENATA Red) and RENATA is still the national network of research and education of the world with more followers on Twitter (@Red_RENATA) with 10,900.
– We surpassed the 100 affiliated institutions.
– We advanced in the testing phase of the Repository of Researchers of Colombia (REDI) in partnership with CEDIA, the national research and education network of Ecuador.
– We continue to be the second country with the most eduroam points (293) in Latin America after Brazil.
– And, among many other achievements, we were strategic actors of the Internet Day, the SNCTI leaders’ meeting, the discussion on learning and challenges of virtual education, Virtual Educa, MiPyme Digital, the VI University Management Meeting of the State University System SUE, Expociencia, Expodigital, LACNIC on the MOVE, Exponegocios, the Encuentro de Investigación Musical (UNAB), Summit of Leaders for Education, the Signing of the Telecommuting Pact, the Forum on Reconciliation and Peace of SUE, Museography en Red (MURE) ), Lacnic 27, launch of the Advanced Computing Center of Colombia, Third world congress on distance education, Ecopetrol Prize, Inauguration of the first Software Development Center of SENA, the ASCUN Assembly, Computerworld Innovation Forum, Colombia 4.0, Summit linked by peace, Second Meeting of Knowledge Management for the Public Sector, the Visit of Pope Francis, the Internet Engineering Task Force ( IETF) 100 Meenting, the Software Engineering Forum of the Universidad de los Andes, the Unicolombo International Chair – RedCLARA – CUDI – CEDIA – RENATA, the Circular Economy Workshop and the ICT Program for IT Ministry, among other events of national and international impact.
Although the balance is satisfactory, in RENATA we know that we have a lot of work to do together with you. Our commitment to you is to continue working for the growth of science, education and innovation in Colombia.
